About us:

We are a Christ-centered preschool for children ages 33 months to 5 years, located at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Our mission is to proclaim the wonders of God’s creations and His grace while providing a safe, loving, and enriching environment for early learning and growth. With a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, children benefit from both group learning and individual attention. Our secure classroom and protected outdoor play area offer a safe place to explore, play, and grow.

Our Mission

At Kids in Christ Preschool, our mission is to proclaim the wonders of God's creations and His grace through early childhood training in an enriching, Christ-centered atmosphere. Zion Lutheran strives to provide a safe and loving atmosphere where each child is nurtured and taught to rejoice and grow in God’s grace while preparing them for kindergarten.

Our Philosophy

It is a known fact that the early training of children is the most significant training they receive. An early childhood experience permeated by Christianity provides children with added richness. Children are allowed to develop at their own readiness with the needs of the “whole child” as the focus.

Kids in Christ Preschools philosophy provides early childhood education based in a Christ-filled academic program. Our well-balanced program takes into account the whole child’s physical, emotional, academic and spiritual dimensions, supporting emotional, social, cognitive, physical and spiritual development. The members of Zion Lutheran Church have supported this mission by providing school rooms and supplies.  Recently Zion has added an outside protected play area and we are planning to add playground equipment the summer of 2014.  Finally, Zion financially supports Kids in Christ Preschool with financial giving to help support the financial scholarships needed for some students.

Children will find a loving, caring environment where they can explore, learn and grow through play in our fun, safe and welcoming atmosphere. From these various experiences, children will begin to develop their individual modes of learning. Each child is encouraged to develop moral values and judgments, to be self-confident and competent, to use desirable communication skills, to display acceptable emotional expression, to attain good peer and adult relationships, and to attain adequate adjustment to a school situation.

Come, let your children grow with us! Preschool

FACTS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

How does a young child learn?
Through love, discipline, exploration, participation, communication, trial and error and Christian example.

When does a child begin to learn?
The minute the child is born. A baby comes into the world ready and able to learn. Young children use their senses, their bodies, their innate curiosity, language facilitation and organizing ability to learn. By the age of 3 or 4 years, most children have established life-long learning skills.

Where does a child learn?
Learning takes place everywhere –at the grocery store, riding in a car, eating at a restaurant, in the home, church or school setting, television, and with other children. Parents are the child’s first and long range teachers. As children mature, they come under the influence of other adults, teachers, siblings, and peers.

Why does a child need to learn?
In order to face the challenge of becoming capable, self-confident, sensitive, independent, and inventive Christian adults. They need to learn how to cope with the challenges of the future, while enjoying the joys of childhood. Childhood is a time for preparing for the purpose of Christian life – that of serving God and fellowman.

What does a young child need to learn?
A young child needs to learn that he or she is a unique individual, created by God. Children are important. The development of feelings of self worth, confidence, and esteem are necessary in building positive relationships toward self and others.

Why Early Childhood Education Matters

  • Children learn from birth, using their bodies, senses, and language to explore and grow.
  • They learn everywhere—at home, school, church, in cars, or even at the grocery store.
  • Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers.

Early education helps your child:

  • Build confidence and self-worth.
  • Strengthen communication and relationships.
  • Grow into capable, curious, faith-filled learners.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

 --Matthew 19:14
